The client engaged Orka Advisory to undertake an independent review of its climate risk register and climate scenario analysis to support preparedness for emerging climate-related financial disclosure requirements under AASB S2. As a resource-intensive mining organisation exposed to both physical and transition climate risks, the client sought expert assurance that its climate risks, scenarios, and governance processes were robust, internally consistent, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations. Orka Advisory conducted a detailed review of the organisation’s climate risk framework, climate scenarios, governance arrangements, and risk management processes. The engagement focused on strengthening the quality, credibility, and decision-usefulness of climate-related risk information while enhancing Board and executive awareness of climate-related financial disclosure expectations.
Reviewed physical and transition climate risks across short, medium, and long-term horizons. Assessed risk descriptions, impact pathways, consequence ratings, controls, and mitigation measures. Evaluated the completeness, consistency, and relevance of climate risks within a mining and asset-intensive operating environment.
Reviewed climate scenarios, assumptions, pathways, and narratives for internal consistency and credibility. Assessed alignment between climate scenarios, identified risks, and potential business impacts. Identified opportunities to strengthen scenario design and strategic decision-making value.
Evaluated alignment against AASB S2 climate disclosure expectations across Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Metrics & Targets. Assessed disclosure readiness and future reporting capability. Developed practical recommendations to strengthen climate governance and disclosure preparedness.
Developed and delivered a Board-focused briefing on climate-related financial disclosures. Translated complex climate risk and scenario analysis concepts into practical governance insights. Supported director awareness of climate-related risks, opportunities, and emerging disclosure expectations.
